Mixcoacalli
The house of song, where every day has a piece of its own

What it is
Mixcoacalli is «the house of song»: the part of the app where each of the 18,720 days has its own musical piece, derived from its numbers and not picked from a catalogue.
The music is not recorded. It is synthesised on the phone from the numeral, the sign, the trecena and the direction of the day, with timbres measured on real Mexica instruments. That is why the same day always sounds the same and two different days never do.
Seven voices, each with its own knob, so they can be raised and lowered separately.

Is the music recorded? No. It is synthesised on the phone from the numeral, the sign, the trecena and the direction of the day, with timbres measured on real Mexica instruments.
Which instruments? Six: huehuetl, teponaztli, tlapitzalli, atecocolli, ayacachtli and cuechtli. Their timbres are measured on recordings and each can be heard on its own.
Is it authentic Aztec music? No. Nobody knows how Mexica music sounded, because no notation survived. What is measured are the timbres of the instruments, not the melodies.
Twenty full days on installing. What is on the web and what is in the app.
