Alma Mexica: Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent, within the Mexica solar frame with the four eras.

The app

Everything on this website is in the app too, free. What follows is what only exists there: the music of each day, the reading of the tonalámatl, the sky over the Templo Mayor, and the five rooms of Xochicuícatl.

The sacred plants, in the app. The site publishes the food and ritual ones; these four stay here because they are controlled substances and several are toxic.

What is free, and where

Everything on this site is in the app too, for free. The rule goes one way and has no exceptions: nothing published here is charged for there.

What is paid for is what only exists on the phone — what moves, what sounds, what reminds you — and what depends on an image or on an interpretation. Attested text is not charged for on either side.

The five counts, the full bibliography and the record of contradictions are free in both places, always. Rigour behind a paywall is advertising.

Where the site publishes some and not all, and on what criterion

Three families: the legends, the historical milestones and the herbal. Everything else is here in full.

Few and complete, never all of them cut short. A legend told by halves is not a legend: it is an advertisement. The ones published are published entire.

Of legends and history, the ones here are those that carry something not found anywhere else: an early source contradicting the current version, a disagreement between codices, or a date the count allows one to fix. In those, the finding is the reason for the page.

Of the herbal, the food and ritual plants are here. The medicinal and the sacred ones stay in the app, and the reason is not the price: some entries can be read as a prescription, and the sacred ones are controlled substances, several of them toxic — a page carrying their names would draw whoever is looking for how to use them, not whoever is looking for what the source said.
