The piece of your day, on your clock

The music of the day as an alarm or a ringtone

What it does

The piece the app derives for the day is saved on your phone as an alarm or as a ringtone, under a name you can recognise in a list: Alma Mexica · 7 Cóatl.

From then on it is one more tone on your device. You choose it from the Clock, from Settings, or wherever you normally do.

Where it ends up

In the folders where the phone looks for its sounds: Alarms/ for alarms, Ringtones/ for ringtones.

That matters more than it seems. A file kept in an app's temporary store is deleted by the system when it needs space, without warning — and an alarm that vanishes after three days is worse than no alarm. That is why it is copied to where the phone keeps its own.

If you save the same one again, it is replaced. Identical entries do not pile up in the list, which is what happens with many apps that do this.

If you give it permission, it can set it for you

Setting the phone's tone from another app requires a permission Android asks for on its own screen. If you grant it, the app can leave it set without you having to look for it. If not, the file is in your list anyway and you choose it — which is the route that always works.

Questions that reach this page

How do I set Aztec music as a ringtone? By saving the day's piece from the app: it appears in your phone's tone list under its own name — Alma Mexica · 7 Cóatl — and you choose it from Settings or the Clock.

Can the day's tone be used as an alarm? Yes, it is also saved in the alarms folder. You choose it from the Clock app like any other sound.

Where does the file end up? In Alarms/ or Ringtones/, where the phone looks for its sounds — not in the app's temporary store, which the system clears when it needs space.

Do the day's tones pile up if I save them several times? No. Saving the same one again replaces it rather than duplicating it.

Twenty full days on installing. What is on the web and what is in the app.
