Tonalámatl Aubin
Pre-Hispanic or very early · Mexico City
What it is
Twenty plates of amate, one per trecena, each presided over by its patron energy with the Lords of the Day and of the Night around it. Its layout is so close to that of the Borbonicus that the two are read side by side.
And it fills a gap: the Borbonicus lost its first two plates, so trecenas 1 and 2 are read here.
Where it is
In the National Library of Anthropology and History, in Mexico City. It returned after a long journey through French collections — it carries the name of Joseph Marius Alexis Aubin, who owned it in the nineteenth century.
Read this entry in Spanish, where the sixteenth-century sources are quoted in full.
