In short
- The app has no accounts and no servers. Your birth data, your diary and other people's dates are stored only on your phone; we never receive them.
- The free version shows Google ads. Google's software collects some technical data from your phone, described below. No ad request carries anything from your reading, your chart or your diary.
What you keep on your phone, and only there
- Your birth: the date, the time if you give it and the calendar count; and your preferences (the language, how your reading speaks to you, how much your recent days weigh, whether your returns count, the reminder and the theme).
- Your diary: your one-tap answers (from “very bad” to “very good”, or skipped), the sealed days and the adjustment the app learns from them.
- Other people's dates, for shared days: the date, the time if you know it, the count and an alias, never a name. They are only saved if you confirm you have their permission to use their birth date.
- Operating data: saved calculations so the app opens faster, and the day's lookup counter.
Everything lives in the app's private storage. Nothing is sent to any server of ours: we don't have one.
Backup and changing phones
The app does not use Android's cloud backup. If you move to a new phone with Android's direct transfer, your diary can come with you; other people's dates cannot, nor the saved calculations, which rebuild themselves.
Export and delete
- Export your diary (in Settings › Your data) creates a file with your diary and opens Android's share menu: you decide where to save it or whom to send it to. It does not include other people's dates.
- Delete my diary and my date (in Settings, in the care zone) deletes your birth date and time, your diary, experiment mode, the people in your shared days and the saved calculations.
- If you choose “Remember my date” when deleting, your date is kept only on your phone, to offer it to you when you start over. If not, it is truly deleted.
- The number of bead necklaces you have earned is kept, a number and not your answers, because each necklace lets you use a different birth date.
- When you uninstall the app, Android deletes everything it saved.
The reminder and sharing
- The daily reminder is calculated on your phone, at the time you choose, and never goes through a server. You turn it off or change its time in Settings; Android asks your permission to show it.
- Share your day creates an image with the day's sign, your stars and the day's sentence; Share your sign creates an image with your birth sign. Both open Android's share menu: you decide whom to share them with. They do not carry your birth date or your diary.
Ads in the free version
The app shows ads from Google AdMob. Its software automatically collects and shares, to show ads, measure them and prevent fraud:
- your IP address, from which the phone's general location can be estimated;
- interactions with the app, such as opening it or tapping an ad;
- diagnostic and performance information;
- device identifiers, such as the Android advertising ID and the app set ID.
That data travels encrypted, and Google handles it under its privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy) and its explanation of how it uses data from apps that use its services (policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites). You can reset or delete your advertising ID in Android's settings.
What does not travel: no ad request carries anything from your reading, your chart or your diary, and when an ad appears does not depend on whether your day looks good or bad.
Your consent
Where the law requires it (for example, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and some U.S. states), the app asks for your choice with Google's consent tool before showing ads, and you can change it in Settings › Advanced › Ad privacy. If you don't give your consent, ads are not personalized.
Alma Mexica, the sister app
- The buttons to Alma Mexica open that app, or its Google Play page if you don't have it. When opening it they tell it, within your phone, what you tapped: a day, a sign or a term. “Your full reading”, in Your portrait, also passes it your birth date, time and count, to open it on your birth day. This only happens when you tap the button.
- If you have both apps, they ask each other, within your phone, whether you bought the full version or the bundle in either one, and which calendar count you use in Alma Mexica, so you aren't charged twice and start with the same count. Android only allows that query to apps signed by the same developer.
- None of this leaves your phone or goes through any server.
Children
The app is not directed at children.
